Tight Rain Gradient 7/25/11

I’m personally very appreciative of the rainfall received at my house yesterday (1.74”)
as it was the first measurable rain since July 9 (16 days)

I was impressed with how tight the gradient was of rainfall over me and continuing to the west into PA.

First off here is a map from CoCoRaHS as plotted by NJ Wx Net:

For Stewartsville it’s showing only 1.50 as that is what fell in the automatic gauge (1.74 was in the clear view).

Here’s another map from CoCoRahs showing Northampton county PA:

You can use the 1.50 on the right as my station for a frame of reference.

Here is some data below for western NJ and eastern PA as published by NWS:

The following are unofficial observations taken during the past 21 hours
for the storm that has been affecting our region.  Appreciation is extended
to Highway departments...cooperative observers...Skywarn spotters
and media for these reports.  This summary is also available on our
