September, 2011 tied September, 1906 for the ninth warmest September 
on record with an average temperature of 70.6 degrees. The warmest 
on record occurred in 1961, when the average temperature was 73.3
degrees. 
 
The two month period from August through September, 2011 was the 
tenth wettest such period on record with 14.06 inches of rain. The  
wettest such period on record occurred in 1882, when 20.71 inches of 
rain fell.
 
2011 had the sixth most days in a year when the temperature reached 
or exceeded 90 degrees with 31 days. The year with the most days was 
2010 with 46 days.
 
Finally, 2011 had the most days in a year when the temperature 
reached or exceeded 100 degrees with four days. The previous year 
with the most days was 1966 with three days. 
 
Records date back to 1874.
