Bergenfield May 2012 Summary

Hi,

May continued a 15 month run of above normal temperatures here in Bergenfield. This persistent string of warm temperatures is truly historic. The average of 65.8°F ( 18.8°C ) was 3.8°F greater than the long-term mean. I recorded a maximum of 93°F ( 33.9°C ) on the 16th. The month’s minimum was 45°F ( 7.2°C ) on the 12th. The average minimum of 57.2°F ( 14.0°C ) was a remarkable 6.1°F above normal. According to statistics from the state climatologist this May was the 4th warmest since records began in 1895. And this Spring was the warmest on record.

Monthly precipitation of 4.79″ ( 121.7mm ) a bit above normal. Rainfall was evenly distributed through the month. This was quite welcome after the previous four months saw a precipitation deficit.

No new temperature records were set but a new daily rainfall total of 1.21″ ( 30.7mm ) was established on the 22nd.

Best wishes,

Rudy
