Bergenfield May 2013 Summary

Hi,

May temperatures were slightly above normal here in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Precipitation was above the long-term mean but not by enough to erase a rainfall deficit ( -10.03″ ) trend that has persisted for more than a year. I recorded an average temperature of 62.3°F ( 16.9°C ). This is 0.3°F ( 0.6°C ) above the long-term mean. The lowest temperature of 37°F ( 2.8°C ) was measured on the 14th. A maximum of 94°F ( 28.9°C ) was recorded on the 30th and 31st. A heat wave arrived on the 30th bringing sultry conditions that drove the month’s average temperature above normal.

The total precipitation of 5.50″ ( 139.7mm ) was about 130% of normal. Heavy rain fell on the 8 – 9th and the 23rd.

Three daily records were set during the month. The 94°F ( 34.4°C ) maximum on the 30th established a new mark. The same was true for the precipitation of 1.83″ ( 46.5mm ) on the 8th and 1.21″ ( 30.7mm ) on the 23rd.

Best Wishes,

Rudy
