Bergenfield NJ October 2013 Summary

Hi,

October temperatures were well above normal here in Bergenfield, New Jersey.
The average temperature of 58.5F ( 14.7C ) was 3.0F ( 1.7C ) above the long-term mean. The lowest temperature of 32F ( 0.0C ) was measured on the 24th. This was the first frost of the season.  A maximum temperature of 89F ( 31.7C ) was recorded on the 4th.
The total precipitation of 0.55″ ( 13.5mm ) was well below normal. This was the second driest October since my records began in 1983. Only 2001 saw less rainfall
when 0.54″ ( 13.7mm ) fell. The past four months have been relatively dry and
we have a 12 month rainfall deficit of over 10″. If this trend continues talk of a drought
might begin. The greatest daily rainfall 0.51″ ( 13.0mm ) occurred on the 7th.
Two daily records were broken. The maximum temperature of 84F ( 28.9C )
on the 1st broke the old record. The rainfall of 0.51″ ( 13.0mm ) on the 7th
established a new mark.

Best wishes,

Rudy
